How do I use the Fitbit app?
The Fitbit app delivers a personalized experience to give you a deeper understanding of your stats and progress while providing insights to help you reach your goals. Customize the app to see the stats that matter most to you.
What are the tabs in the Fitbit app?
The Fitbit app features 3 tabs: Today, Discover, and Community. You may notice a Premium tab if you're not a Fitbit Premium subscriber. Switch between the tabs to see a full picture of your stats, discover new experiences, and connect with the global Fitbit health and fitness community:
Today See your daily stats at the top of the Today tab, including steps, distance, calories burned, and more. Below your daily stats, find your other stats, such as sleep, how many days you exercised this week, weight, and more. | |
Discover Find challenges, health and wellness programs, and premium programs like Wellness Reports and Mindfulness. | |
Community Access the Fitbit community where you can join groups, find your friends, interact with other community members, and more. |
How do I update the Fitbit app?
Update the Fitbit app the same way you update other apps on your phone. Note that your device may automatically update your apps depending on your settings.
iPhones and iPads
- Open the App Store app.
- Tap your profile picture in the top right.
- Scroll down to see if an update is available for the Fitbit app (under Available updates or Upcoming automatic updates).
- Tap Update.
If your apps update automatically, check Updated recently to see if the Fitbit app was updated recently.
Android phones
- Open the Play Store app.
- Tap the menu icon in the top left.
- Tap My apps & games. If the Fitbit app has an update, you'll see it in the Updates list.
- Tap Update.
If your apps update automatically, check the Recently updated or Up to date list to see if the Fitbit app was updated.
To see which version of the Fitbit app you have, tap the Today tab your profile picture Help. The app version is at the top.
Where can I find my Fitbit account settings?
Tap the Today tab , and tap your profile picture. Your device is listed at the top. Tap your device image to open your device settings, or scroll down for your account settings.
What are the messages at the top of the Today tab?
You'll see messages in the Fitbit app that give you personal insight into your health and wellness based on your Fitbit data. These messages may be about general wellness, activity, nutrition, mindfulness, sleep patterns, and more.
Tap the X in the top right to dismiss a message. Provide feedback on a message by tapping the thumbs up icon or the thumbs down icon .
How do I share my stats and accomplishments from the Fitbit app?
Share stats and accomplishments including:
- Badges and trophies
- Daily stats
- Exercise
- Logged foods
- Hourly activity
- Sleep logs
- Progress toward a weight goal
To share a stat, accomplishment, badge, or trophy:
- From the Today tab in the Fitbit app:
- Tap the achievement, log, badge, or trophy you want to share, then tap Share or the share icon:
- Customize your post, and tap Share (on Android phones, tap Next).
- Write your message, and tap Next.
- Choose a group in the Fitbit community where you want to share your post, and tap Post. To share the post outside of the Fitbit community, tap Share elsewhere.
To share your stats on the Today tab:
- On the Today tab in the Fitbit app, tap the share icon:
- Customize your post, and tap Share (on Android phones, tap Next).
- Write your message, and tap Next.
- Choose a group in the Fitbit community where you want to share your post, and tap Post. To share the post outside of the Fitbit community, tap Share elsewhere.
Can I use the Fitbit app without a Fitbit device?
Use the Fitbit app to log your food, activities, weight, and more, without owning a Fitbit device. Manually enter activities to get an estimated calorie burn based on your personal information, such as height, weight, age, and sex. For certain phones, use MobileTrack and MobileRun to track steps and activities with your phone.
